What is Biological media?

Biological media, or bio media can really be anything inside the tank that is not alive that the beneficial bacteria can use as a house. This bacteria colonizes and converts the ammonia into less toxic goals which is beneficial to your fish. This conversion process is called the nitrogen cycle. Many biological types of media are available and will work inside your GBG nano cube aquarium. This includes the ceramic rings plastic balls so-called bio balls and sponges and mesh and such. Most customers place the biological media inside their back compartment of the filter of their tank. The water movement is needed to move the nutrients and chemicals throughout the water so that the beneficial bacteria can convert it.
